Sportop Midget AAs Take Gold at CanAm Cup
MADISON, WI — The Sportop Midget AA Queens took on the Sault Ste Marie Wildcats in the U19 Gold Medal game at the CanAm Challenge Cup.
The Queens went 4-0 through Friday and Saturday and all four of those games were started by goalie Kamryn Sandelovich as Josée Robinson was recovering from a nagging injury. Sunday though, Josée was good to go!
The first period drew a 0-0 finish. Midway through the second, Brynne Lambert and Kendra Fortin drew assists on Alexis Paddington’s goal to give the Queens a lead. Sault Ste Marie tied the game early in the third but Thunder Bay responded just 10 seconds later as Lucy Newman got the puck to Brenna Nicol who’d score, giving the Queens a 2-1 lead. Robinson would hold the lead as the Midget AAs skated to a Gold Medal finish in Wisconsin!
The Sportop Midget AA Queens (Gold), join the Bantam AAs (Bronze) and Gridlink Midget As (Gold) as Queens teams bringing home hardware from the CanAm Challenge Cup.
