Provincials Roundup for Midget A, AA, Bantam AA Queens

THUNDER BAY, ON — All three Queens teams who participated in in the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association Provincial tournament had early exits this weekend.

In Mississauga, in the Midget AA division, the Sportop Queens went 0-2-1 with 4-1 and 3-1 losses to the Chatham Outlaws and Sudbury Lady Wolves while tying the Peterborough Ice Kats 1-1 thanks to a late goal by Vanessa Nicholl setup by Molly Kunnas.

In Vaughan, competing in the Midget A division, the defending 2017 Bronze Medalist Topper’s Pizza Queens dropped all three of their games being defeated 3-1 against the Aurora Panthers while both the Windsor Wildcats and Whitby Wolves boasted 4-1 victories over the Midget As.

And in Brampton, the Bantam AA division, the Queens started the tournament with a 2-0 loss to the London Devilettes. Alexis Paddington scored the lone goal in a 3-1 loss to the Brampton Canadettes but in their final game, they’d defeat the Kingston Ice Wolves by a score of 2-0. Paddington and Reese Coffey would score for the Bantam AAs while Mykaila George picked up the shutout.

No Queens teams would make the playoff round of the Provincials tournament.
