Strasser & Lang Peewee Queens Compete in Norwest Tournament

THUNDER BAY, ON — The Strasser & Lang Peewee Queens took part in the Norwest Tournament in the Peewee AA division.

In game one, it was host Norwest Stars getting the Queens. Annie Mallon got the Queens on the board first with the sole marker in the first, assisted by Emily Bragnalo. Brynn Hannula put the Queens up early in the second after being setup by Sydney Ritson but Norwest struck back with four unanswered goals in the period. 4-2 Norwest after two. In the third, the Queens looked to climb back in and got things rolling early as Hannula and Beth Gagnon would find Kingston Golding open and get her the puck which she’d bury in the Norwest net to cut the lead to one. Shortly after it’d be Ritson to Hannula again to tie the game 4-4! Goalie Sophia Delorme held the door shut for the remainder of the game as the Queens held onto the 4-4 tie.

Game two would be a little more lopsided against the Elks, as the Queens would lose 7-1. Makenzee Kostiuk managed the lone Queens goal.

Game three saw the Peewees take on the Dryden Paper Kings. The Kings managed a first period goal but couldn’t find any more offence as Sophia Delorme and the Queens defence prevented them from generating anything. Unfortunately, the Paper Kings were equal to the task, not allowing a goal in their net, taking it 1-0 over the Queens.

And in their final game of the weekend, the Peewee AA Neebing Hawks would hand the Queens another lopsided loss by a score of 7-1.

2010 Esso Cup - National Banner

By TBWHA Queens

As the TBWHA Queens prepare to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Esso National Cup victory, we have hit a stumbling block.  The 2010 Esso Cup championship banner, that this group of 17 Midget AA Queens players and staff worked tirelessly to achieve, has gone missing.

There are lots of rumors to the whereabouts of the banner and when it was last seen or where it was last hanging.  The current Thunder Bay Queens Board members would like to secure the whereabouts of this banner and return it to its rightful place, raised to the rafters of a local arena, where all of Thunder Bay can be proud and reminded of this great achievement.

If you or someone you know, has the banner or has seen this part of Thunder Bay Queens history recently, please reach out to us at tbqueensboard@gmail.com

Strasser & Lang Peewee Queens Finish Up Cupid Classic

BLOOMINGTON, MN — The Strasser & Lang Peewee Queens wrapped up this weekend's Cupid Classic in Bloomington with a final “friendship” game against the friendly hosts from Bloomington.

Some unfriendly behaviour put the Queens on their first penalty kill of the game but Emily Bragnalo would send Brynn Hannula into the Bloomington end with the puck to score shorthanded for Thunder Bay. 1-0 after the first.

The Queens picked up a pair of goals in the second as Kingston Golding would take a pass from Mackenna Wright to setup Kali Bragnalo who’d score to extend the lead. Golding would then receive a pass from Hannula and setup Edelweiss Price who’d snipe to give the Queens a commanding 3-0 lead going into the third. Bloomington would break the shutout bid but it would be all the Strasser & Lang Queens allowed as they take their final game of the weekend by a score of 3-1.
