THUNDER BAY – Three of the Thunder Bay Queens teams are making some noise this weekend, all going undefeated in round robin play to place first in their pools respectively.

The U18AA Mallon’s Play It Again Sports Queens finished first in their pool out of 10 teams and first overall out of 40 teams, with a 4-0 record after two days of play and will be playing for the Gold Medal tomorrow in the USA-Canada Cup in Kitchener/Waterloo.  The U18AA Queens continue to make their mark this season with victories against the Hamilton Hawks 4-0, the Sudbury Lady Wolves 2-0, the Ottawa Jr. 67’s 1-0, and the Kitchener Lady Rangers 3-1.

The U15AA Thunder Bay Queens are taking part in the annual 2Nations College Prep in Brampton, winning tonight in OT to solidify their place in the Quarter finals Sunday morning against the number one ranked team in the province, Durham West Lightning.  On the road to the quarter finals, the U15AA Queens have been tenacious, coming from behind in all 4 games to go undefeated against the Peterborough Ice Kats 3-1, the St. Catharines Brock Jr. Badgers 3-1, the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 2-1, and the Bluewater Hawks 4-3 OT win.

The U15A BFL Canada Queens went a perfect 3-0 in their first three games of the Centennial Hockey Girls Super Chill Tournament in Blaine, MN and will now take on Osseo-Maple Grove Black at 9 a.m. in Sunday’s Semi-Final.  The U15A Queens came on top in the tightly contested game Friday evening with the South West Force 1-0, and battled hard with two late goals in the third to capture the win against Alexandria 2-1.  They closed out pool play Saturday evening with a dominate win against the Centennial/SLP 11-0.

The Mallon’s Play It Again Sports U18AA Thunder Bay Queens have returned home from the North American Showcase with gold! They would knock off the host Durham West Lightning to capture the U18AA North American Showcase Championship. Addison Chown opened the scoring with a great net drive to bang home a Keira Stokaluk rebound. Bridget Cameron would add to the lead snapping a shot over the glove of the goaltender to make it 2-0. Brooklyn Voortman would seal the game with an empty net bar down goal to make the final 3-0. Alex Young was the best penalty killer on the team in the championship game and was solid in net earning the shutout.

The invitational tournament boasts some of the top teams from Saskatchewan, New York, Manitoba, New Jersey, Ontario, and California. The Queens would go undefeated in the round robin portion with a 3-0 win against Central York, a 3-1 win against Saugeen-Maitland, a 2-0 win against Stockton, California and a 3-3 tie against Clarington to finish first in their division. In the semi-final game, they would knock off the #1 team in Ontario, the Stratford Aces, 3-0, with another shutout performance by Abby Wills.

The coaching staff credits the dominant performance with solid goaltending, great defensive play, and a commitment to a game plan. The U18AA Queen’s team and staff are also extremely thankful on this Thanksgiving weekend to the Thunder Bay Minor Hockey Association, the Westfort Maroons U15AA team, the Norwest Stars U15AA team and the Thunder Bay Kings U15AAA team for providing us with exhibition games before the tournament.

Next, the Mallon’s Play It Again Sports U18AA Thunder Bay Queens will be competing at the 2023 Tradition NIT, in Blaine, MN - October 20-22, 2023.
